Edinburgh – Scotland’s Attraction

Beginning on November 27th, Edinburgh will begin to celebrate its Holiday Market. Edinburgh is one of the most romantic cities in Europe during winter, sparkling with more than a month of celebration. During the Christmas Market, Edinburgh is just bursting with fireworks, parades, lights, entertainment, as well as the Winter Wonderland. This long seasonal event draws thousands of visitors, as well as locals, each year.

The good news this year is that the City Councils offers free parking until January the 10th, 2009 to all drivers who dare go shopping by car in the centre of Edinburgh.

The celebrations are initiated on Light Night when all 200,000 Christmas lights are turned on throughout the city, and the markets also open on this night.

For the first time this year, there will be a market in Highland Village-style that will sell top of the line drinks, food, jewelry, and clothing from all across Scotland. Other markets sell a variety of things, which include traditional German toys, decorations, and crafts.

There are many exciting activities throughout the city during the build up for Christmas, with the Norwegian Advent Carol Concert and Green Christmas. On the weekend of December 13th and 14th marks Santa’s return, along with his reindeer.

Ice skating is a favorite among people of all ages, and the Winter Wonderland is an exciting attraction with a big ice skating rink. There is also a Big Wheel that you can ride on, where you get a sky view of the rink and the markets below.

Hotel prices range from 19 GBP to over 100 GBP for those who don’t save when it’s about pampering themselves.

Life comes to Edinburgh during the Christmas city, where people from all over come to enjoy the festivities of shopping, and this is a memorable destination for cultural explorations and romantic getaways as well.
