Your travel guide to Budapest

When you talk about Europe the first thing that comes to your mind is France, Italy and Spain. But one of the increasingly popular countries in Europe that should not be missed as well is Hungary more particularly its capital Budapest. Home of the popular river Danube from the musical work ā€œBlue Danube,ā€ Budapest offers more than just the remarkable river. The culture of Budapest definitely represents the cultural advancement of Hungary.

Buda & Pest

Budapest is divided into three districts: Buda ā€“ located in the western side of the river Danube, the district is considered as the residential area of the city; Castle Hill where most of the historical structures are located and; Pest ā€“ located in the eastern side of the city where all the shopping and nightlife happens.

Although you have to be in Castle Hill and Pest districts to enjoy the best in Budapest, a good way to save on accommodation is in Buda. There are also scattered museums in different districts that are worth visiting.

As proven by the beautiful Danube Music, it is highly recommended to visit an opera house to enjoy their beautiful music. There is an impressive number of opera houses in Budapest that you can enjoy. There are trains and buses that could take you around the city. The trains and buses are differentiated by numbers, so be sure to buy a guidebook. Just make sure that the guidebook has been updated (number assignments has been changed in September 2008) to make sure they provide the right numbers of the buses and trains.
