Safe Travel in Uzbekistan

One of the most interesting countries in the world is Uzbekistan and if you’re a seasoned traveler, this country should be part of your list right now. It’s double land-locked country which means the country doesn’t have any access to the sea. The only body of water accessible from Uzbekistan is through the Aral Sea on the northern part of the country.

The challenge in Uzbekistan is usually on how you can enter the city. You need to have an LOI or the letter of invitation. This could take weeks but if go through a travel agent and a confirmed itinerary, you should be able to enter the city without any problem.

But once you enter the country, you’ll immediately realize that all the trouble is worth it. Uzbekistan is a highly controlled country by the government (police state) but it has reaped benefits especially on security. Of course there are some petty crimes to be expected but that should be expected on all countries. As long as you take precautions (don’t go out at night alone or walk into dark places), you should be a happy tourists.

The best place to stay in Uzbekistan is on its capital, Tashkent. Unfortunately, war and earthquake has destroyed some of the important structures in the city. But the city compensated with an impressive number of museums that should give you a lot of information about the city.

There are two things that you should remember to have fun and be secured in the city. First is to have an interpreter since most of the locals don’t speak English. The price is no more than $10 in a day which is a personalized service. Second is to bring your passport and LOI with you since the police can check them from time to time.

Overall, Uzbekistan is a must visit country. The friendly locals as well as the remarkable prices on food, souvenir and activities should never be missed.
