Oman and the Cradle of Humanity

Oman is one of the 15 states called "The Cradle of Humanity" with archaeological evidence of trading routes and early civilisation.

Located in the eastern portion of Arabian Peninsula, Oman is a popular tourist attraction because of its numerous destinations as well as tourist-friendly setting and accommodation. Although the country was almost closed to the outside world until the 70s, it has grown exponentially with the help of tourism and other local businesses.

Oman is one of the fifteen states so called “The Cradle of Humanity” with archaeological evidence of trading routes and early civilisation.

Getting to Oman is relatively simple as tourists can get to the country through land, sea and air. Land based travellers can enter through Yemen, UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Air travel is the easiest but it’s only limited to the international airport in Muscat. Entrance to Oman is relatively easy as long as tourists have passports valid for 6 months. A visa (valid for one month) is issued upon entrance.

Getting around Oman is very easy as there are taxis and buses that would take you to place. You can also rent cars for a few days but take note – police can stop and fine you if your car is dirty. When it comes to taxis, don’t be surprised that someone else will be riding with you. This could happen when the fare is very low. You can negotiate or “engage” (a term used by local taxis) the taxi so that you can be the lone rider.

The best place for tourists to visit and experience the best of Oman is its capital. Muscat is home to more than 500 forts. Most of these forts are still in perfect condition even though some were built as early as 16th century. The Bahla Fort located in the small quaint town of Bahla should not be missed as well.

The country is also known for their picturesque mountains and beaches that breed sea turtles.
