An enchanting little village in Northern Greece has a lot to offer to the traveler. Nea Irakleia is a great place to visit.

Are you looking for a unique holiday destination in Greece? Look no further than Nea Iraklia! Located in the Halkidiki region of Central Macedonia, this small village is the perfect place to relax and explore. From its stunning beaches to its vibrant culture, there’s something for everyone here. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or an adventure-filled family vacation, Nea Iraklia is a small place that has a lot to offer.

Somewhere to Stay

Accommodations in Nea Iraklia are plentiful and varied. You can choose from hotels, Airbnbs, and vacation rentals to suit your budget and needs. Hotels range from budget-friendly options – and there are many to choose here – to more luxurious resorts with all the amenities you could want.

Although it has to be noted that if you are used to Dubai-style hotel luxury, you will not find this here. The resorts are usually 4 star as they are smaller and with less amenities than in other parts of Greece. Airbnb offers cozy private villas with swimming pools and stunning views of the sea, while vacation rentals provide more space and amenities for larger groups or families.

Eating Out

When it comes to dining, Nea Iraklia has plenty of delicious options. The local cuisine is known for its fresh seafood dishes such as grilled octopus and prawns (saganaki) cooked in white wine sauce. For those who prefer something more familiar, there are also international options serving up Italian pasta and pizza and Greek gyros. There are some great tavernas along the beach.

Shopping in Nea Iraklia is not plentiful. There are some stores selling various items. There is a great butchers, a fantastic bakery and a couple of supermarkets for fruit and the day-to-day goods. A couple of cafes, real estate shops, a church, a school and a central aquare complete the village.

Handmade jewelry, pottery, textiles, and other traditional items that make great mementos of your trip are available in the town nearby. If you’re looking for more variety, there are also shops selling clothing and accessories from more popular brands in Nea Kalikrateia which is a small town less than a 10 minute drive or a 30 minute walk.

Attractions

Nea Iraklia is also home to some amazing attractions that will keep visitors entertained during their stay. The village’s main beach is a great spot for swimming or sunbathing on hot summer days. It’s also worth taking a boat tour around the nearby beaches where you can see sea life in the crystal clear waters or take a dip in one of the many secluded coves along the coast.

Perhaps the largest attraction though is the largest beach bar in Greece and one of the largest (if not the largest) in Europe. The Sahara Beach resort boasts over 1000 umbrellas which sit at least 2,000 beachgoers. It is a spectacular setting in a family-friendly beach with shallow waters for inexperienced swimmers and all kind of watersports facilities.

It has service across the beach with drinks and food served at your seats by an army of waiters and kitchen staff, a truly gigantic operation. The resort also sports a restaurant and a shop to buy basic things and beach-related asseccories.

Experiences

For those who want to experience something truly unique during their visit to Nea Iraklia, there are several festivals held throughout the year. Some offer a glimpse into local culture and traditions. One of the most popular events is Easter Sunday when locals gather at churches across town to celebrate with music and dancing until late into the night.

Other music festivals with popular singers and bands take place at the Sahara Beach Resort.

No matter what kind of holiday experience you’re looking for, Nea Iraklia has something special waiting for you! With its beautiful beaches, delicious food scene, vibrant culture, and exciting festivals – this charming village is sure to make your next trip unforgettable!
