Weekend in Herefordshire

Abbey Dore is a beautiful and picturesque village in Herefordshire. Located in the West of England, the village is popular with tourists every spring and summer because of the natural settings. Complementing the beautiful setting is the historical significance of the village. The place is named after the abbey established during the 12th century. Although the original structure is in ruins, the Cistercian monks cleaned up the area and rebuilt the structure. The structure that survived today was built by the Cistercian monks between the 18th and 19th centuries.

The beautiful Dore Abbey is now a parish church. The church has a blend of Romanesque and Gothic design as it features stained glasses with pointed arch windows.

Those who want to stay a bit longer in Abbey Dore can stay in the nearby Abbey Dore Court which was built during the 18th century and features six acres of beautiful gardens. The courthouse is ideal for families who want to stay in a beautiful property with complete amenities that could rival any popular hotel.
