Many tourist destinations feature century old house, remarkable architectural structures and natural wonders. But there are some sites in the world that are famous for their ceilings. Here are some of the places around the world that require you to look up and tension your neck a little bit:

The Sistine Chapel – it is almost a blasphemy not to mention this remarkable historic and very artistic chapel. Painted by Michelangelo from 1508 to 15011, the ceiling shows nine paintings on the ceiling by the renowned artist.
Debre Berhan Selassie – located in Gondar, Ethiopia, the artistic ceiling is housed in a very small church. The ceiling is made up of hand painted angels which shows the traditional of art of the country. Popular belief is that the faces of the angels are never similar.


Khai Dinh Tomb – although infamous in Vietnamese history, there is no doubt that the tomb of the 12th Emperor is highly artistic. The tomb is massive with traditional architecture. While the ceiling features neo-classicism style of art featuring hand painted dragons with fierce and stern look rarely seen in artworks around the world.
Saint Ignacio Church, Rome – one look of the ceiling and you know you are looking at a very special ceiling. Multi-dimensional, you’ll feel that the ceiling is rounded but it fact, flat.
Macy’s in Chicago – although primarily a shopping center, this shopping store in Chicago uses more than 1.6 million pieces of Tiffany glasses. It’s also more than 100 years old as it was installed in 1907.
