The 2012 Olympic Games in the UK are nearly here! Are you ready for them?

The Olympic Games will be hosted in the UK during the summer of 2012, with many events taking place in locations around London. Tickets went on sale 22nd March with an estimated 8 million available to sports lovers. Users had to select which sports and events they would be interested in and the Games organisers would then start issuing tickets after the April 2011 closing date.

Olympic tickets ranged from £20 to £2,012 depending on the event and what place visitors wanted to site. Some people are sure to be disappointed in the next few weeks when they don’t receive the tickets they had hoped to purchase but we have a few tips to save money and gain Olympic tickets even after the application date has been passed.

Package Deals

Some companies have created package deals to give you the ability to watch an event and stay in a nearby hotel. One provider is Thomas Cook that is offering tickets to events such as Gymnastics, Football and Athletics with a night at a London hotel from £129pp. This option can be a great way to still get tickets and stay in a London hotel, perfect for a weekend break in the capital.

Save Big on Hotels

While hotel package deals are great ways to get Olympic tickets and have a luxury place to stay in for a night there are other cheaper options if you plan to stay in London for a little longer. The website Olympic is offer nearby houses that you can rent out for a week during the games. The site doesn’t have a big selection at the moment but a family can stay in a 3 bedroom house nearby for between £750 and £1000 per week. This is a great option for families to consider and could be your summer 2012 holiday.

Have you received your Olympic tickets yet and what are your thoughts on the two travel options?
