Designers and architects on Earth are flirting with ideas on what hotel rooms of the future would be like. Space hotel rooms are no longer something you would find in a futurist almanach – space travelling is starting to flourish.

The Space Hotel Project was created by post-graduate students from the Royal College of Art and Imperial College of London. Their concept is to attach the space hotel to a Space Station at 350 km from the Earth. The students are allowed to be as creative as possible keeping all the important hotel amenities in mind such as for personal hygiene and sleeping areas.

Of course this is not an easy task as space hygiene can be very challenging. Vacuum toilets and space clothing should be well developed to avoid any disgusting consequences of flaw. Regular clothes should not be used as it’s impossible to wash clothes in space. Space clothes should let the skin breathe to keep it clean and odour-free. Bath time is also a huge challenge for the designers.

A company from Barcelona (Galactic Suite Ltd.) intends to open the first space hotel by 2012 and a 3-night stay would cost around 3 million euro but guests are guaranteed 15 sunrises a day and a travel around the world every 80 minutes. For sure, if this would become a reality, a stay at a space hotel would be a delight and a very strange experience to remember. This is definitely a must for people who can afford it and just a dream for the rest of us.

Dubai is well known now for being a world-class getaway that caters mostly for the filthy rich and beautiful people: hotel accommodations in Dubai can reach over $50,000.

Dubai’s best idea to date is that of building the Hydropolis hotel. It is the first luxury underwater hotel & resort that was designed by Professor Dieterle. The hotel would be 66 feet under the water in the Persian Gulf, just off Jumeirah Beach. Guests who would be staying here would have a great view of the life underwater. The hotel is reinforced by steel and concrete, transparent walls are used and dome ceilings in the shape of bubbles will allow guests to admire the sea creatures in their natural habitat.

This state-of-the-art hotel was first scheduled to be open by 2006 but because of the difficulty in its construction, its inaugration was delayed. It was difficult for the engineers and the architects to do this project starting with finding the right location suitable for an underwater hotel. The calculations for the construction need to be perfect in order for the hotel to handle the pressure and the tides.

The underwater hotel has three sections. The first section is where guests are welcomed. The second section would be the tunnel where the train takes the guests to the third section which is the underwater hotel itself.

Are you in for some ghost hunting? Then Madeley Court – a mansion in Shropshire, England is the scary place to be. This hotel was built in 1553 by Robert Brooke and has an amazing Renaissance architecture.

One of the areas here where several ghost were seen is the 16th century staircase. Many witnesses and ghost hunters report that dark shapes were moving up and down as if busy with their own things.
